Sorcerer Chassis #3

This is a rolling chassis built for Paul Shinsky of Houston, Texas. About a year ago, Paul was looking for someone to build a very light chassis for him, and he commissioned
Lee Stohr to build the chassis. Paul and his engineer, Glen Gramm, provided a driver layout, suspension mounting points and geometry. Paul is using an older Suzuki engine which he
feels will give competitive, reliable horsepower. Paul has his own bodies made.
The chassis, as you see it above, weighs 488lb. The frame alone weighs 80lb.
The frame is all TIG welded 4130 aircraft tubing.
Finite element analysis says torsional rigidity is almost 3000 ft-lb/deg.
It uses a standard Beasley rear axle/brake carrier.
It has 8"/10" Keizer wheels (presumably 13" diameter).
It uses Lee Stohr's bolt together universal uprights.
The decision to use "Outboard suspension was due to cost and weight." Lee added, "I did make a great effort to put the shocks as far out as possible for best motion ratio. The
rear is about 1:1."
Lee designed this project as a one-off chassis saying, "It is kind of a tool-room special. Way too much labor went into welding around all those little tubes." Lee Stohr's
involvement in building this project is one thing that led him to into D Sports Racing and developing his own Stohr DSR chassis.
If there is interest in the Sorcerer, Paul is open to having Lee build more chassis for which Paul can have more bodies made.
This chassis was just FedEx'd to Paul's engine builder in Texas, for fitting headers.
